When it can't wait

Dental emergencies don't wait for a good time. As an emergency dentist in Salt Lake City, we move quickly to relieve pain, treat infection and fix what's broken, so you're not stuck waiting in discomfort.

Call us at (801) 467-6555 and tell us it's urgent. We offer same-day appointments whenever possible, for patients near Sugar House, Millcreek, South Salt Lake and beyond.

Common dental emergencies

  • A bad toothache or throbbing pain
  • A cracked, chipped or broken tooth
  • Swelling in your gums, face or jaw
  • A tooth that got knocked loose or knocked out
  • A lost filling or crown
  • Pain or bleeding that won't settle down

What to do right now

Call us first so we can tell you what to do and get you in. If a tooth is knocked out, handle it by the top, not the root, keep it moist and call right away. Time matters.

If swelling is making it hard to breathe or swallow, or you have a high fever, go to the emergency room first.

What happens at your visit

We find the cause, explain it in plain language and get you out of pain. Sometimes that means a filling or a crown. Sometimes it means root canal treatment to save the tooth, or a gentle extraction when it can't be saved. You hear your options and the cost before we start.

In pain and nervous too? That's very common. Tell us when you call, and we'll go at your pace.

Common questions

We're open Monday 8 to 12, Tuesday through Thursday 8 to 5, and Friday 8 to 3. We're closed on weekends.

Is a toothache an emergency?

A toothache that keeps you up, throbs or comes with swelling should be seen soon. Pain usually means something needs attention, and treating it early is usually simpler.
