Sleep apnea and snoring care in Salt Lake City

A custom oral appliance can help with snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnea, especially if CPAP hasn't worked for you.

When snoring is more than noise

Loud snoring, gasping at night or waking up tired can be signs of obstructive sleep apnea. That's when your airway gets blocked over and over while you sleep. As a sleep apnea dentist in Salt Lake City, we help by making a custom oral appliance that keeps your airway more open at night.

Training you can trust

Dr. Madison Day is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. That means she has earned board certification in using oral appliances to treat snoring and sleep apnea.

Who an oral appliance can help

  • People who snore
  • Adults diagnosed with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea
  • People who can't tolerate a CPAP machine

How it works

Sleep apnea is diagnosed by a sleep physician, usually with a sleep study. If you already have a diagnosis, or think you may need one, start by talking with us and your doctor.

Once an oral appliance is a good fit, we make a custom mandibular advancement device. It's a mouthpiece that gently holds your lower jaw forward while you sleep. We fit and adjust it with you and stay in touch with your physician so your care stays coordinated.

Breathing habits like mouth breathing can start young. Ask about orofacial myofunctional therapy.

Common questions

Can a dentist diagnose sleep apnea?

No. Sleep apnea is diagnosed by a physician, usually with a sleep study. We make and fit the oral appliance and work with your doctor on your care.

Can an oral appliance replace my CPAP?

For some people with mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, or those who can't tolerate CPAP, an oral appliance can be an option. That decision is made together with your physician.

Will an oral appliance help my snoring?

For many people, yes. It holds your lower jaw forward so your airway stays more open, which can reduce snoring.

Is Dr. Day board certified in dental sleep medicine?

Yes. Dr. Madison Day is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.
